I don’t have a whoa-is-me story about my birthday. I‘ve had good birthdays since 2014. This year, I had a great birthday. I can say that for most of my life, birthdays have been just another day for me. I would even go to work just to prove it. I don’t do that anymore. I take off and do all the things that I love to do. My ex-wife once sent me a list of free things that I could do for my birthday and I have been doing them for years since when I have the time.

Here’s an updated one that I found this year: 90+ Free Birthday Food Picks - Best Chain Restaurant Freebie Meals For Your Birthday (delish.com)

DO IT!

I’m writing this to say that your birthday is NOT just another day. Birthdays are important because they offer a unique opportunity to celebrate life, reflect on personal growth, and connect with loved ones. Each birthday marks the passing of another year, serving as a significant milestone that encourages self-reflection and appreciation for the experiences and achievements of the past year. This reflection fosters a sense of gratitude for both the triumphs and the challenges that have shaped personal development. Celebrating life in this way promotes a positive outlook on the future, as it reminds you of your resilience and capacity for growth.

I am not who I was yesterday. I’ll be someone else even on tomorrow.

Celebrate.

The act of celebrating demonstrates love, appreciation, and recognition, which are vital for nurturing self-esteem and a sense of belonging. These gatherings often create cherished memories, strengthening relationships and fostering a sense of community and connectedness. The joy and togetherness experienced during birthday celebrations contribute to a deeper appreciation for the people in one’s life, enhancing social ties and emotional health. Things I never really knew I needed, but they fuel me.

I’m so thankful for my tribe (in and out of state).

I’m 38 now and I’ve always used my age as my new beginning. My new year. My life transforms like no other when that clock strikes 12.

New goals and reaffirmation of my personal aspirations.

This period of reflection and renewal can be incredibly motivating, providing a sense of purpose and direction for the coming year.
