Song: Haunted by Be Steadwell
No one goes into marriage with the idea that it might end...
We didn't think twice about it, convinced that it would change us both for the better. She thought she was ready, I thought I knew enough for the both of us. When in reality, for each of us, our knowledge extended to only that marriage was hard. We knew the word, but not the definition. It seemed easy enough in the beginning-- a meal here and there, quality time, and lots of fucking.
It was rainbows and butterflies until that first mistake.
Then for better or for worse stood between us in real time. She knew that I liked to dance. It was the temporary solution because it didn't need words, but that only made things worse. It gave us an excuse to find unhealthy outlets. Mine was anger. Hers was liquor and women. What comes after that?
All I knew how to do was leave. Her transgressions were unforgivable. She could still laugh in our union, even at my pain. Then there was a moment when nothing was funny and the idea of me leaving was a reality. Suddenly she wanted to start over. She wanted to dance.
This is not a love story. This... is where love went wrong.
